Newborns & Infants
Congratulations
Having a baby is one of the most exciting times in your life. Nothing is more rewarding than the privilege of caring for this new life and providing an environment in which both you and your child will thrive and develop. Choosing the pediatrician that can best care for your child is an important decision. At Oberlin Road Pediatrics, we share your joy and enthusiasm and look forward to the opportunity in partnering with you on the exciting journey of raising a child.
Oberlin Pediatrics offers Meet and Greet Visits where you can learn more about our practice.
In the Hospital
While you are at the hospital, you will be seen by the hospital's staff pediatrician.
The American Academy of Pediatrics provides information about the routine newborn procedures that occur in the hospital.
After Discharge
We will see your newborn in the clinic within 1-2 days after discharge from the hospital. The goal of this visit is to check the newborn's weight, during a time of expected weight loss, and examine for jaundice. Believe us, it will take much longer for you to get your new family assembled and out the door than you anticipate. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes ahead of your visit so that you can turn in completed paperwork and have the full appointment time with the doctor. Don't forget your diaper bag!
Lactation Services
We have nurses with breastfeeding expertise who can assist moms during the time of their visit with the pediatrician. If you require additional help, please talk with your pediatrician about specific lactation specialists we recommend. We have a list of highly trained individuals whom we trust on our Online Resources page and are happy to put you in touch with them.
